So, after my long nap, I decided it was time to get out and see some more. So, I braved the Metro and set forth on the second journey of the day. But where in the HE** was that Metro station. I'm learning I'm not the best map reader in the world as I walked around for an hour looking for this Metro station near my hotel, and when I finally found it, it was like blocks away. Oy. The Metro is very safe, for those of you who's first thought was "WHY IS HE TAKING THE METRO? WHY ISN'T HE TAKING A CAB??" The Metro is very easy, but there are only a few lines in Rome and they won't always take you where you need/want to go.
Where was I going? I didn't have a clue. But I thought this looked good
I don't know, what does that say to you? Trevi Fountain, maybe? Ooo, something I wanted to see, let's go there!
So I did, and this is what I saw....
Ummm, my first thought was "Umm, there's a song about this??" Well, actually, this is the Fontana de Trevi de Bernini. Not the famous Trevi Fountian - which will be mentioned tomorrow. So, I didn't throw any coins in this fountain, so I decided the next best thing was to have dinner.
I found a lovely cafe, ordered a salad and tortillini and a bottle of still water and had dinner.
After dinner it was back on the Metro and back to my neighborhood in search of gelato, because as if then, I still hadn't had any gelato. Which was NOT good. So I remembered a gelato place I passed by twice on my long walk and to my surprise it was still open. SCORE!!!
Pistachio and Straciatella. Very yummy.
And that ended my day. Not before I tried to upload pictures to google, which took all night, and I didn't get this day blogged until today. But I'm catching up.
Ciao,
Maestro

ReplyDeleteIt was great reliving St.Peter's thru your descriptive b(log). Looking forward to all your future posts. ( I imagine there were 'no pictures allowed' at the vatican Museum?)
